My parents were hard-working west Texas farmers who were active in our Methodist church in Plainview and then Hereford, Texas. I became a Christian at the age of 9 and when 11, I dedicated my life to full-time Christian service. I felt as if God had a calling for my life. For several years it looked as if that was not a real commitment. I married when very young and spent 20 years helping my husband get a college degree and raising our three sons. Although I was active in our church, it looked as if I would not ever be part of a ministry, especially when I went through divorce. For several years I made very poor choices and turned away from God. I have had first-hand experience in addictions, abuse, anger, blended families, co-dependency, depression, divorce, eating disorders, grief, low self-esteem, spiritual healing and suicidal ideation. My personal journey led me to begin college at the age of 42 and to obtain a bachelor's in Human Development/Family Studies, then a master's degree in Educational Psychology/Counseling
I believe that even though I took detours long the path, God created me to make a difference in other's lives. I have a deep passion for ministering to hurting people. I am a wounded healer and a deeply committed servant who desires to apply my God-given abilities to the task of helping others move to personal wholeness. I have dedicated the rest of my life to help others find the peace I have found.
Under the guidelines of the State of Texas, I completed the supervision required to be granted a Texas License as an LPC and later to be certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. My life experiences, my education, and my passion for service in a counseling ministry uniquely qualify me to touch others in need of a spiritual healing. I am absolutely sure that God has called me into the ministry of counseling and willingly serve as He guides me to those in need.
